Lancs West DofE Bronze Expedition

Lancs West DofE Bronze Expedition, Expeditions in April can be fraught with dilemmas, what do you wear and what do you pack? April showers, frozen tent zips, hail, misty mornings… luckily, we had beautiful sunshine all weekend. Ellie, Kate, Sophia and Alesha had completed all the training and were ready to put it to the test. We all met at Jubilee Tower near Quernmore. A few last-minute tips and hints from Ann, the assessor, and they set off across the fields all the way to Guys Farm. They only got lost once and ended up in the wrong field, with no way to get over the barbed-wire fence. They found a way around and were quickly back on their route. They pitched their tents, made their dinner and then settled to sleep. It was a chilly night, but no frozen tents! They were up and ready to set off at 8:30 the following morning, and walked from Guys Farm, over Nicky Nook to Garstang. The girls successfully completed their expedition, covering 28km over two days, and are now thinking about their next award.
