County Celebration Evening 2026

Lancashire West County came together for a very special evening of celebration at the Wainwright Club in Blackpool, bringing together members from across the county to recognise the incredible dedication, commitment and achievements of our guiding family.

The evening was particularly special as it was the first County Celebration Evening for Catherine as our new County Commissioner, making it a wonderful opportunity to celebrate everything that makes guiding in Lancashire West so special.

We were also delighted to welcome Rona Romell, North West Region Chief Commissioner, who joined us for the evening and helped us celebrate the achievements of our members. Rona also had a very special surprise up her sleeve, presenting a Guiding Star Award during the evening. This was only the second Guiding Star Award to be presented in the North West Region in the last three years, making it an incredibly special and memorable moment.

Queen’s Guide Awards

We were also delighted to celebrate Katie and Corrine, who received their Queen’s Guide Awards.

The Queen’s Guide Award is a fantastic achievement and represents an incredible amount of commitment, challenge and personal development. A huge congratulations to all three!

A special thank you to Sue

Another particularly special moment came when Sue was presented with a Good Service Award in recognition of all she has done over the years as Blackpool Division Commissioner.

Having recently stepped down from the role to take on further responsibilities at county level, it was lovely to have the opportunity to recognise Sue’s commitment and the huge contribution she has made to guiding across Blackpool Division.

A wonderful evening together

Of course, no celebration would be complete without some fantastic food! Guests enjoyed a delicious meal of hotpot, beef lasagne and a vegetarian option, followed by an impressive selection of cakes and desserts. There was certainly no shortage of choice — or cake!

A huge thank you must also go to our Celebration Team, whose hard work behind the scenes helped make the evening possible. From organising the event to all the little details that made the night run smoothly, their time and effort were hugely appreciated.

Most importantly, the evening gave us the chance to come together as a county, celebrate our achievements and recognise the remarkable contribution of our volunteers.
