About the Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of activities.
It is open to girls and young women aged 14-24 (or Year 9 at school and turning 14). D of E fits closely with the Queen’s Guide Award.
There are three progressive levels of the award – Bronze, Silver and Gold – that vary in length and commitment.
Bronze Award
- For those aged 14 and over, or aged 13 and in Year 9.
- You will complete sections in Volunteering, Skills and Physical and take part in an Expedition.
- It takes at least 6 months to complete.
Silver Award
- For those aged 15 and over, or aged 14 and in Year 10.
- You will complete sections in Volunteering, Skills and Physical and take part in an Expedition.
- It takes at least 12 months to complete as a direct entrant (those who have not completed their Bronze award).
Gold Award
- For those aged 16 to 23 ½ (or 24 if you have done your Silver award).
- You will complete sections in Volunteering, Skills and Physical and take part in an Expedition and a Residential.
- It takes at least 18 months to complete as a direct entrant (those who have not completed their Silver award).
